In the midst of shrinking Japanese film and entertainment markets, going international has become more viable than ever before. The last few years in particular have witnessed notable collaborations between Japan and Taiwan, such as the Taiwanese film "Kano" starring the Japanese actors Masatoshi Nagase and Takao Ohsawa, and the Taiwanese TV drama "Chocolat" starring Masami Nagasawa. More productions featuring Japanese actors are currently in development.
Sharing the language of Mainland China (Mandarin), Taiwan provides a gate to the Chinese market of 1.4 billion people. We will discuss the latest trends of Taiwan, where more big budget
films featuring well-known Japanese actors will be made in coming years. We will also welcome the producer of "The Crossing" directed by John Woo. The producer will talk about his journey as a budding Japanese producer working overseas.
After the seminar, there will be a gathering with guests that also functions as Q&A time. We welcome people who aspire to create and form the film and drama markets of Japan and Asia over the next 10 years.
