There is no room for doubt that investment and payback is a prime concern in the film business. Even today, however, it is hardly possible to grasp quantitative success factors in this market, and that makes it difficult to make decisions on production and marketing of movies.
We, CRUNCHERS, have developed the box office income simulator for success factor analysis and profit prediction of movies by analysing storylines and box office of past movies. This simulator can describe a quantitative relation between each movie and profit they bring.
The biggest innovation of this system is that it makes possibe to predict profit of a movie before producing it from its planning and screenplay. In addition, it also simulates changes in the box office income depending on the dates of release and effects of advertising and publicity on consumers.
This kind of quantitative simulation can enhance the quality of decision-making to a much higher level when you make appropriate plans of producing, advertising, and distributing movies.
In this presentation, we give an overview of our box office income simulator and discuss the impact of data science on the content business with brilliant guests.
