Overseas buyer increased! It will be held from Oct 22nd

“TIFFCOM” is the only film festival in Japan approved by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations. As we are approaching our 15th anniversary, the Japan Content Showcase (JCS) 2017 held with TIFFCOM, broke the record for all numbers including the number of exhibitors, buyers, total deal amount; and as for this year, we have once again hit our record the highest number of exhibitors ever, 382 (25 countries and regions)and have continued to stand out as one of the major content market representing Asia.
Also regarding the buyer registration, compared to having 65.9% of foreign buyers last year, this year, we have reached the number of 73.9% which accounts for a larger percentage this year. Thus, we are gradually attracting attention as one of the largest content market places representing Asia. The number of buyers registered this year by countries and regions; No.1 China, No.2 Korea, and No.3 Hong Kong/Taiwan (excluding Japan). Last year’s ranking was No.1 Korea, No.2 China, and No.3 Hong Kong. China became No.1 for the first time this year. The highest ratio for the categories that Chinese buyers are handling are Animation and Original Books became three times more than last year. It shows that the anticipation of many of active meetings related to the IP/Book Adaptation, which is one of the focuses of this year’s JCS. In addition, the first-time registered countries and regions ever are Kyrgyz Republic and Saudi Arabia.
We prepared the new initiative named “Japan Now Presentation”. You can check the trailers and footages of the remarkable directors and producers in the special screening venue. If you have any creators or works that you are interested in acquiring on promoting in your territory, please visit the seller’s booth handling the works to get more information. We will introduce creators to participate to the project in the party of Oct 23rd as the below information.
