"TIFFCOM2009～Marketplace for Film & TV in Asia" will be held for three days from Tuesday 20th of October 2009 at Roppongi Academy Hills, Tokyo.
This year's TIFFCOM, the 6th edition, started as a contents market along with the Tokyo International Film Festival. As the market division of the film festival, it has further strengthened the business market function of broadcasting contents by having the International Drama Festival in Tokyo as a collaborative project.
4,006 attendees from 42 countries and regions in the world were registered last year, and the number of registered buyers reached 1,206, an increase of more than 40% from the previous year. Moreover, there was a total of 201 exhibitors, about 2.5 times that of the inaugural TIFFCOM. Excellent contents including the 2009 Oscar winners "Okuribito (Departures)" and "Tsumiki-no-ie (La Maison en Petits Cubes)" were traded at the venue last year and the total contract value reached an all-time high of \1.9 billion.
In conjunction with this multi-contents market TIFFCOM, we are planning to provide various opportunities including a co-production project "TPG-Tokyo Project Gathering," seminars, and symposiums for this year as well.
